In the Diamond Sutra, Buddha taught that the past, present, and future minds are unattainable. This is not just a theory, but a sharp tool to sever all attachments and find immediate clarity.
The Root of Three Temporal Minds
Root of suffering lies in the illusion of a permanent 'self.' By analyzing time, we see the past is a shadow, the present is a flash, and the future is a dream. The mind has no shape, color, or location.
Understanding that the mind is empty causes the illusory world to collapse. We no longer drown in emotional waves but see the ocean's calm nature. This realization is the starting point of true freedom.
By peeling away our identification with thoughts, we find the essence of peace. This cognitive shift is the essential first step in breaking through deep-seated ignorance.
The Path of Self-Reflection
Practice is not seeking outside, but observing the very thought as it arises. When desire or anger appears, don't follow it. Instead, look back: where is the source of this thought?
In the constant stream of consciousness, we practice non-attachment to forms. We avoid the traps of existence and non-existence, maintaining a clear, luminous awareness that transcends common logic.
Through this persistent inquiry, thoughts become like wind passing through the sky, leaving no trace. This method thins out heavy attachments until they vanish into the void of original mind.
The Fruit of Silent Equality
When the mind is found to be unattainable, one enters the inconceivable realm where words fail. Subject and object merge, and life reveals its inherent harmony and non-duality. In this moment of breakthrough, you realize that afflictions and enlightenment were never two separate things.
